Jamvm download fails

Description
The download URL for dev-java/jamvm doesn't download properly, I believe because Sourceforge puts up a download page to show ads. I tried switching the URL to CVS, but can't figure out how to get it to check out the correct version (1.5.4), as the patches don't apply cleanly on the trunk. Maybe I'm doing something wrong though, since there doesn't seem to have been any changes in ~5 years.
