Pointed out by François, Be provides a find_directory function, which might be useful for glib 2.15.x special directory implementation.

glib has some patches for find_directory  https://bitbucket.org/haikuports/haikuports/src/master/dev-libs/glib/patches/
Not sure about glib 2.
