+The autogen.sh did update the gnulib stuff, but made a mess as it fails aclocal/autoconf/automake stuff leaving it unbuildable, so probably not a good idea to use autogen as it is right now.  So that build attempt was aborted.  I will try a fresh build attempt with the steps listed above to verify they work and then rerun the make check to capture that status.
